„ZDĚDÍM, TO, CO JSI ZTRATIL”

Mladí umělci ze zemí Východního partnerství a Střední Asie zkoumají “disonantní dědictví”, které zahrnuje hmotné i nehmotné pozůstatky náročných časů 20. století.
Výstava představí umělecké reflexe reagující na složitou historií pomoci architektury; budov, pomníků, městských prvků, a to z historickými vazbami na války, kolonizaci, pronásledování a propagandu.Dědictví je totiž jak prvkem fyzického prostoru, tak politickým mechanismem, zdrojem i traumatem. Individuální, osobní příběhy vstupují do dialogu s oficiální historií a zavedenými geografiemi. Poskytnutím prostoru umělcům z těchto regionů se projekt otevírá různým přístupům a perspektivám existujícím v jednom čase a prostoru a odmítá nadřazenost „homogenního sledu událostí odpovídajícího vizi vítězů“, jak napsala Simona Škrabec v souvislosti s úvahami W. Benjamina o pojetí dějin. Umění se stává nástrojem k objevování oné části minulosti, která byla vymazána z oficiální paměti, a dějiny se stávají souhrnem individuálních osudů.Výstava vznikla na základě otevřené výzvy, po které probíhaly půl roku série setkání, workshopy a diskuse mezi vybranými umělci, kurátorkami a pozvanými profesionály.

Výstava byla po prvé prezentována 14. dubna 2024 v polském Štětíně, Locatorne.

I INHERIT WHAT YOU LOST

Young artists from the countries of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia explore the “dissonant heritage”, which includes tangible and intangible remnants of the challenging times of the 20th century. The exhibition will present artistic reflections responding to the complex history via architecture; buildings, monuments, and urban elements, with historical links to wars, colonization, persecution, and propaganda.For inheritance is both an element of physical space and a political mechanism, both a resource and a trauma. Individual, personal narratives enter into dialogue with official history and established geographies. By giving voice to the artists of these regions, the project opens up to the presence of different approaches and perspectives existing in a single time and space, rejecting the primacy of a “homogenous sequence of events conforming to the vision of the victors” , as Simona Škrabec wrote in relation to W. Benjamin’s reflections On the Concept of History. Art becomes a tool to discover that part of the past which has been erased from official memory, and history becomes the sum of individual fortunes.The exhibition was created on the basis of an open call, after which a series of meetings, workshops and discussions between selected artists, curators and invited professionals took place for half a year.

“I Inherit What You Lost” is a project accomplished by the Floating EKA Foundation in partnership with the Kana Theatre Centre, Lokatorne, the Academy of Art in Szczecin and Artivist Lab in Prague.

The exhibition was launched in Szczecin, Poland, at Locatorne on 14th of April 2024.
